Compliance Training

Each year, UNC employees are asked to complete a series of courses to keep our campus compliant with various institutions.

Employees are automatically enrolled in required compliance courses through our Cornerstone platform. Assigned training will appear in your "ACTION ITEMS" portion of the portal.

FY23 List of Compliance Courses

  • FERPA

    All UNC employees are required to take FERPA training annually to maintain federal funding. This course provides an overview of the fundamentals of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) for postsecondary school officials and student employees.

    Estimated Time: 60 Minutes

  • HIPAA

    This course will train you in the basic HIPAA rules regarding the use, transmission, security and privacy of healthcare data, and policies related to UNC's handling of HIPAA data.

  • Implicit Bias

    The Implicit Bias training course looks at how implicit bias impacts our work and our students. The course offers strategies to combat implicit bias both inside and outside of the classroom.

    Estimated Time: 1 hour, 30 minutes

  • Workplace Harassment

    This course provides an overview of the laws related to discrimination and harassment in the workplace, specifically those governing college campuses. The training will also cover UNC policies related to discrimination and harassment on campus. This training is designed for postsecondary school officials and student employees.

  • Cybersecurity

    The Cybersecurity Awareness training aims to make employees aware of the types of security threats UNC faces from online attacks. The course defines the different ways employees may be vulnerable and how to avoid becoming a victim to cybersecurity attacks.
